Market Wrap-Up for Mar.11 (MW, DPS, DVN, BLK, IBM, TXN, more)

We barely see a dip in the tape and before you know it, the screen is back to nearly all green. Don’t get us wrong, we love gains, just not straight up. We are going to be evaluating some names on our recommended list for possible removals if the recent trend continues. We always prefer to initiate or re-initiate when we see a favorable risk/reward scenario. We are fortunate to have many names (90 plus) on our recommended list, but we don’t want to lose the discipline of looking for solid entry points. As for today’s action, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group ( DPS ) enjoyed nice gains on a Wall Street upgrade. Men’s Wearhouse ( MW ) gave some of the recent gains back following its Q4 earnings results. Devon Energy ( DVN ) was up on news it is selling some assets to BP Plc ( BP ) . Other stocks doing well today included United Parcel Service ( UPS ) and IBM Corp ( IBM ) . As for names that were lower in today’s tape, Deere ( DE ) , Blackrock ( BLK ) , Analog Devices ( ADI ) and Texas Instruments ( TXN ) all ended in the red.
