Girls ordered to spend weekends with sex offender father
A COURT has ordered two young girls to spend weekends with their sex offender father provided he puts a door on their bedroom they can lock. Judge Robert Benjamin, in the Family Court's Hobart branch, ruled that the girls “need some protection from (their father), particularly at night”. However, the risk of sexual abuse was “diminished when they are awake and alert”. Judge Benjamin said that the father, who was convicted of downloading child pornography, must have an “adult friend” stay with him when the girls stayed overnight. He added that until the youngest turned 14, the girls must “share… Original Article: Forum: News/Activism

Congress to Vote by Saturday on Health Care
Do the Dems have the votes to pass Obama's seizure of our health care?It would seem that many of those who cast a vote in last Thursday's poll may want a do over. 65% of those responding suggested that they thought Obama Care would die a slow lingering death in Congress. The news on Friday that House Speaker Pelosi intends to bring the measure to a final vote next this coming Friday or Saturday means there may finally be a vote on health care. Sarah Palin: With a Stiff Spine America Must Stand Against Obamacare
If Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi, and President Obama get their way, soon our country will be changed forever. Using every partisan parliamentary trick in the book (including some they invented just last week), Washingtons Left intends to ram through their takeover of our health care system regardless of the consequences. The latest twists and turns in the Obamacare drama seem almost surreal. One minute the Democrat leadership is trying to amend a bill before the president has even signed it into law, and the next minute theyre trying to draft a new rule that will allow the House to deem… Original Article: Forum: News/Activism

A Gilroy soldier’s life, and legacy
The alarm on Jeramy Ailes' wristwatch kept beeping long after he was killed in Fallujah. Bi-bip. Bi-bip. Bi-bip. It startled his cousin who escorted his body home when it rang out from the blue velvet pouch that contained the dog tags and ring he wore the day he died. It comforted his parents when it beeped every afternoon from the living room bookshelf of their Gilroy home. “It felt like his presence,” his mother, Lana Ailes, said. It sounded like a heartbeat. The war in Iraq will enter its eighth year Friday; the war in Afghanistan began in 2001. More… Original Article: Forum: News/Activism

We ( journalists ) talk about policy because it’s what we care about and cover
ROBERTS: Well, the Iraq war certainly played into it and people were very fed up with the Republican leadership. But the fact is that, you know, we here analyzing these elections tend to talk a lot about policy because it's what we care about and cover, but there is this tendency of both parties to overreach when they get all of the power – the – get both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue. That was part of the reason, that sense that the Democrats were overreaching, in 1994, that they lost the House of Representatives then, after decades. But it was… Original Article: Forum: News/Activism
