Another climate cartoon by Josh

Recently there seems to be a certain amount of unjustified criticism of Judith Curry – H/t Bishop Hill – which, tho’ it amounts to not much than hot air, is still worth cartooning. http://www.cartoonsbyjosh.com/

Air Force Called In For Gulf Oil Spill: Obama

Filed in Bank Gold, ceo, Gold, lead by on May 1, 2010 0 Comments

James Bishop Epoch Times May 1, 2010 President Obama gave a White House address Friday, regarding the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, following failed attempts to slow the flow of oil Thursday night. He gave the D.O.D. the go ahead to prepare the U.S. Air Force for participating in the oil spill cleanup. Concerns are increasing that the gallons of oil being spilled, already reaching into the millions, will lead to an environmental disaster on par with the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spill of 1989. Cleanup efforts increased after the oil from the spill reached the Louisiana coast late Thursday night. “BP is ultimately responsible under the law for paying the costs of response and clean up operations but we are fully prepared to meet our responsibilities to any and all affected communities… There are now five staging areas to protect sensitive shore lines. Approximately 1,900 federal response personal are in the area and more than 300 response vessels and aircraft on the scene twenty four seven,” said Obama in a White House address. “We are taking full responsibility for the spill and we will clean it up and where people can present legitimate claims for damages we will honor them. We are going to be very, very aggressive in all of that,” BP CEO Tony Hayward told Reuters. BP has been working with the U.S. Coast Guard along with Louisiana government officials to get a handle on the oil spill. There has been no word on the cause of the fire that

Dear Andrea Merkel: How much do Raul Hilberg and I owe you?

Filed in Bank Gold, euro, gld, Gold by on April 20, 2010 0 Comments

Dear Andrea Merkel, I read in the news that your German government has fined Bishop Richard Williamson 10,000 Euros for “partial Holocaust denial.” According to reports, the 10,000 Euros fine reflects Williamson’s public statement that he believes that “200,000 to 300,000 Jews died in Nazi concentration camps” rather than the widely touted figure of six million. According to the dw-world.de report, you stated that the pope must “‘clarify unambiguously that there can be no denying’ that the Nazis killed six million Jews.” So I am writing to tell you that as a Muslim and a nonbeliever in both papal infallibility and Zionist historiography, I am not going to endorse the six million figure even if the Pope threatens me with hellfire and damnation. Smoking Gun: CRU Data Too Inaccurate To Detect AGW

Filed in Gold, Gold Spot Market by on April 17, 2010 0 Comments

Ross McKitrick has a long narrative up on how he has attempted to correct the sloppy math and unproven assumptions made by the IPCC and CRU (H/T Bishop Hill). As you read this you should also be aware that inside the CRU data dump from last fall was a smoking gun document which clearly indicates CRU knows its data is incapable of detecting AGW levels to a tenth of a degree. To do so requires temperature data to be at least that accurate or better. You can’t measure to the inch with an unmarked yard stick. WRH permalink

Pope Benedict, in a previous post as a high Vatican official, recommended caution in the defrocking of a California Roman Catholic priest who pleaded guilty to molesting children, according to a letter released on Friday by lawyers for the victims. In the 1985 letter, typed in Latin and translated for The Associated Press, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger told the bishop of Oakland he needed more time “to consider the good of the Universal Church” as he reviewed a request to remove the priest. THE Catholic Church has a turbulent future as probably a much smaller church in the West, with a ”vast amount” of sexual abuse cases yet to emerge, according to a retired Australian bishop. ”The church is not going to fold up its tent and disappear, but there could be very dramatic changes” as a result of the clergy abuse crisis, said Bishop Geoffrey Robinson.
